I can’t help but tinker with my watches. I was perfectly happy with my steel desk diver. It had excellent legibility and I loved the custom hands, especially the minute hand… but it didn’t have lume.
I recently picked up some new lume which, by all accounts, rivals Seiko Lumibrite so I decided to try it with a new dial in the desk diver case. I expected an OK result after slathering a generous amount of lume. What I got blew my mind. I’ve worn the watch overnight 3 times now and I’ve woken up several times and was able to do a wrist check, as you do. The only way I can describe it is that it’s a torch that lasts throughout the whole night. The lume photo, or any video I take, just won’t do it justice.
I tried to replicate the red tip on the minute hand but I’m not completely happy with it. The insert now also needs some lume and I’d like to try a different coloured dial… it just never ends.
